The Indonesian Catholic Community (ICC) is an informal organization formed on July 7, 2001. The group was established to serve Indonesian catholic families and individuals in the Dallas - Fort Worth and surrounding area in Texas to gather as a faith-based community. Members of the community, which currently number more than one hundred people, come from various backgrounds. Many of the members are professionals working in diverse fields such as engineering, information technology and finance but we also have entrepreneurs, teachers and students among us. Most of our members are young families, some with children ranging from babies to college students.
The community has scheduled meetings at least once a month, which usually take place on the first Saturday at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Irving. Sometimes the community also gathers at one of the members' house for special occasions. Although our organization is based on the catholic faith, we are open and welcome others who are non catholic to join us in our gatherings.
Some of the activities we have are prayer meetings, rosary, meditation, discussions, and holy masses. Because we do not have an Indonesian priest serving in the Dallas area, we usually invite priests from other city or state to celebrate the mass in Indonesian language. We also participate in the annual multi-cultural mass at the Holy Family Church. The community also has other social activities such as Christmas party, picnic and garage sale. In the future we plan to have more activities such as bible study, retreat and recollection.
